What is Sincerity?

This years theme for Mist is sincerity. So how is sincerity defined in Islam?

In Islam, the concept of sincerity can be described by various terms:

- intention (niyyah)

- the turning of the heart (qalb)

- purity (ikhlaas)

- advice (naseeha)

- honesty or integrity (sidq)

Sincerity does not just mean being true to one's principles, but also being true to others. It is important that we make sure that what we say is what we do.
