Peer Pressure

“And when it is said to them: “Do not cause corruption on the earth”, they say, “We are

but reformers”. Unquestionably, it is they who are corrupters, but they perceive [it] not.” [Qur’an:

Chapter 2, Verse 11-12]

High school is a time where one grows and learns a lot about one’s self. It is a time where

mistakes are made, but also a time where lessons are learned. It is the awkward middle between being an adult and kid. One big factor of high school is peer pressure. No matter what crowd you fall in, peer pressure is always present. It may not be being influenced to do drugs or consume alcohol, but in the little decisions that are made in daily life. This usually happens in times of distress or when one’s insecurities are creeping out. However, when in distress, there’s no need to turn to anyone except to Allah (SWT) for answers. Allah says, “Take one step towards me, I will take ten steps towards you. Walk towards me, I will run towards you”[Hadith Qudsi]. He will be able to help you in ways that no one else can and He will give you the clarity that you need. When one relies on Allah (SWT), then everything slowly falls into place.
